Eleven teams representing Eisenhower, Felida, Hazel Dell, Marshall, Ogden and Salmon Creek elementary schools matched literary wits in the fourth annual VPS Battle of the Books. All participants had to place at the top of their school competitions in order to advance.

The Jeopardy-style game had students buzzing in to answer questions based on 10 books from a variety of genres.

This year’s top three teams were Tiger’s Quest, Felida; Victory’s Quest, Eisenhower; and the champion Witches of the West, Felida! A team from Felida also claimed the 2015 Battle of the Books championship.

Special thanks to the teacher librarians of these six schools, who coordinated the event: Melisa Woods, Ron Wagner, Mary VanderPloeg, Kay Ellison, Mary-Catherine McElroy and Tara Jordan. Chief Digital Officer Mark Ray served as the emcee/moderator, and the Fort Vancouver Regional Library District hosted the event and sent every student home with a free book!
